Council Officials can request for Statements

Section 140 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) authorizes the Council to request that an owner produce details of a property, including area space, location, quality, usage and rental rate as well as other details relevant for Assessment of Taxation. The Local Authorities can alos, at any time, enter, inspect, and if necessary, measure premises.

An owner who fails to provide requested information within two (2) weeks, makes a false statement, or obstructs a local authority official from undertaking the tasks stated above, can upon conviction, be fined not more than Two Thousand Ringgit Malaysia (RM 2,000.00) or a jail sentence of less than six (6) months or both
